PROFILE of PATRICK ALBERT LEWIS

I have a first degree from The University of the West Indies, Mona majoring in Botany with minors in Chemistry and Geology granted in 1987.

   I worked for a couple of years at the UWI Herbarium, Mona after graduation as "Herbarium Assistant" and left for a short while, returning in 1992 where I have been employed continually since as "Herbarium Curator".

   My experiecce spans most aspects of herbarium work and I have field experience in most vegetation types of Jamaica and with a wide range of plants cultivated in the island through my many years of involvement with the "Jamaica Horticultural Society".

   I love plants and think our further understanding of them will improve our own understanding of our place as humans as we move out into the "wild universe".

   I am now the holder of an M Phil in Botany from The UWI Mona campus(2014) and in the summer of 2015 I completed an intensive 3-week course in Tropical Botany in Miami as I continue to hone my skills in plant identification..
